Meloyd Third planet in the Denzar System. |
|
Table of Contents |
An M class planet at the edge of the Denzar System. It's position in relations to its one yellow sun is the third and last in this system. This planet is rich in minerals and dilithium. Their main trading comodity as well as dilithium is find cloth that shimmers and is very soft to the touch. Meloyan's cherish and hold close to their ancient teachings. Much is passed on from word of mouth one generation to the next. None of the ancient rituals have ever been put into print. The people of Meloyd, keep mostly to themselves. Only a very few have ventured off world and into space.
Most
of those have attended Starfleet Academy. A few, however travel with
their families on merchant vessels. Their education takes place
onboard the ships but no formal training of their powers is evident.
Though
they have achieved warp technology they choose not to use much of
the technologies that this would provide, for fear of the loss of
their ancient teaching. Throughout the Meloyan histories though the
men do most of the work, it's the Women who run the planet and are
the protectors of their art. The people of Meloyd never grow to be much over 5'6" and olive is their main skin tone. Shades of hair vary from jet black to red but never blond. Length of hair means a great deal to this race, more so, to the women than the men. One who has been outcasted from their family is dressed in rags and their head shaved. The communities shun the person and he/she usually goes off to make his/her own way.
Eyes
tend to be almond shaped and colors very from violet to amber. Never
light blue. The men are more heavily muscled than the women. They
work mainly in the district shops, in the mines, or in the factories
that produce their unique cloth, there are a few who serve the Law
Keepers as their personal guards. This privilage is handed down from
father to son, just as the Law Keepers of the planet are handed from
Mother to Daugher, or Granddaughter. The male Pheremones are not
nearly as stong as that of the female of the race. The Meloyan woman
carries her children for 12 months. Each Meloyan wears a ring on their right hand that denote which house they belong to. Most of the males if they do marry become members of their wives house. Never again to wear the ring of his own house.
In
the case of an outcasting, a father can save his child the
embarrisment of the shaved head by making him/her the head of the
faternal house. The population of Meloyd is undetermined as births and deaths are unrecorded. There is a close balance between the land and water on Meloyd. These people are very earthbound but realize the importance and sacredness in the water around them.
Meloyans
believe in the powers of the mind and so begin teaching their young
at an early age. Myeloyans are empathic, telepathic, and psionic.
Though they vary in degree and strength from person to person. Like every planet, Meloyd also has it's dark side, the region on the far side of the planet is made up of dark forces. Usually these forces keep to themselves but once in a while they raise their heads.
It is custom that when a new person comes into their lives, they honor that person with a gift. These gifts may vary in color but all are used to bring focus and balance to the mind.
