Sheila spent the majority of her childhood and early years convinced that she did NOT want to join Starfleet. She had lost her father, several uncles, brothers and friends to various conflicts that Starfleet had been involved in. She was able to hold to htis plan for herself until she was sixteen and ent to live with her cousins on her aunts freighter. They had conducted several cargo runs to various paces, including into Romulan space with no negative results. Until that fateful day when the Romulans attacked the civilian ship with no warning where she and her youngest cousin were the only ones to make it to an escape pod. After being picked up by the USS Venture, she had brought her cousin back to live with her mother and decided to join Starfleet afterall. She wanted to do anything and everything to make certain that what happened to her, would never happen to anyone again.
