Alec never knew his biological parents since the freighter ship he was born on had crash-landed on the planet Meloyd. His parents had been killed instantly, leaving the infant Alec the only survivor. Unfortunately, the ship's computer was unable to be recovered to determine Alec's true name. When the rescue teams found the infant, they took him immediately to be adopted by a shopkeeper couple. When both Patric and Ashanna learned of the infant survivor, they were ecstatic at the prospect of adopting what had been termed the 'miracle baby.'
