Barclay's Protomorphosis Syndrome: an intron virus that causes humanoids and other animals to develop structual and behavioral characteristics of earlier evolutionary forms. Accidentally developed in 2370 when a routine synthetic T-cell treatment became mutated. The virus exhibited airborne transmission and worked by invading the host's DNA and activating introns.

Bendii Syndrome: Rare illness that sometimes affects Vulcans over the age of 200. the disease is characterized by gradual loss of emotional control; victims exhibit sudden bursts of emotion and irrational anger. Diagonsis is made by culturing tissure from the patient's metathalamus. A dangerous side effect of Bendii Syndrome is that the loss of emotional control can be telepathically projected to others.

Cold, common: An infection of the upper respiratory tract caused by any over 200 viruses in many humanoid species. By the 24th century the common cold was a curable ailment.

Dermal Dysplasia: Medical skin disorder caused by an overexposure of the epidermis to the hazardous levels of thrmal and ultra-violet radiation.

Dorek Syndrom: A very rare and incurable diseas that afflicts one out of every five million Ferengi.

Hemocythemia: Medical condition in which intercellular pressures are unstable. This condition was also called hemocythemic imbalance and could be treated with osmotic pressure therapy.

Hesperan thumping cough: A flu-like affliction.

HTDS: Holotransference Dementia Syndrom. Medical condition in whih a person becomes so disoriented within a holographic simulation taht they loose their sense of identity and start to think that they are a part of the program.

Iresine Syndrome: A very rare neurological disorder in humanoids characterized by a peculiar electorpathic signature in the thalamus, and a severly decreased istamine count. Victims of the disorder, first identified in the 23rd centurey, would fall subdenly into a coma for approximatly 72 hours. diagnosis could be confused y the presense of any of 22 different substances that left electropathic residue resembling that of this disorder. Iresine Syndrome was suspected of inducing comas that befell three members of the Enterprise-D crew in 2368, but was later ruled out when it was learned they were victims of Telepathic memory invasion rape.

Irumodic Syndrome: Degenerative disorder that causes progressive deterioration of the synaptic pathways. The disease can cause senility and eventually death. Treatment of choice for theh disorder was peridaxon, thos this was simply palliative, no cure existed.

Iverson's disease: A chronic disease that causes fatal degeneration of muscular functions in humans. Iverson's disease doesn not, however, impair mental functions. There is no known cure for the condition.

Kalla-Nohra Syndrome: Chronic pulmonary disease. Kalla-Nohra Syndrome is found only in individuals exposed to a mining accident at Gallitep, a labor camp run by the Cardassians during the occupation. There are no know instances of anyone not involved with that mining accident contrancting the disease, so a positive diagnosis makes it virtually certain that an individual has been at the infamous death camp.

Levodian flu: Viral disease. Levodian flu normally lasts 29 hours. Symptoms include sneezing and a runny nose.

Memory virus: Parasitic organism that thrived on the peptides generated by its host's brain. The virus, was able to evade the body's immune system by disguising itself as an engram. the parasite would created a false memory for its host that was so traumatic that the host's mind would repress it. The memory virus would live, in person after person, hiding in a part of the brain that the unconscious mind would want to avoid at all costs. When it sensed the death of it's host, the virus would leave to find another . Thoron radiation was lethal to the meomory virus.

Mendakan pox: Humanoid disease characterized by skin mottling.

Neurochemical imbalance: A serious physiologica condition in Vulcans, the effect of the Pon farr mating drive.

Orkett's disease: Viral sickness.

Phage: In iology, a virus that infects bacteria by attaching a hollow protein trial to a bacteria cell wall, injecting DNA into the cell. Sometimes called a bacteriophage.

Phage was also the name of a deadly virus that attacked members of the Vidiian people in the Delta Quadrant. The phage consumed the Vidiians' bodies, destroying their genetic codes and cellular structures. There was no known cure for the phage, and the Vidiians survived as a species only by makeing extensiveuse of organ transplantation. One of the symptoms of the early stages of the page is excruciating joint pain. Some who are infected have been known to die from the agony itself. Klingo physiology was resistant to the phage.

Phyrox Plague: Disease. Classified as secret.

Plasma plague: "A group of deadly virus types. An unclassified but estremely virulent strain of plasma plague treatened the densly populated Rachelis system in 2365. Significant research into plasma plague was conducted by Dr. Susan Nuress in 2295 in responce to a similar outbreak on planet obiVI. One mutated strain developed during Nuress's reasearch was fount to grow more rapidly when exposed to eichner radition. A similar strain threatened the Enterprise-D when that ship was transporting specimens of plasma plague to Scienct Station Tango Sierra to combat an outbreak in the Rachelis system in 2365.

Pottrik Syndrome: Diseade that affects Cardassians, similar to Kalla-Nohra Syndrome. So alike are the two afflictions that the are even treated by the same medications.

Psi 2000 virus: A water-based disease organism originally found on planet Psi 2000 in 2266. This virus infected members of the Federation science team stationed on that planet, causing suppression of their inhibitions, and ultimatly their deaths. Transmitted though human perspiration, the virus later infected members of the Enterprise crew, resulting in the near-destruction of the starship.

Rigelian fever: Deadly disease resembling bubonic plague. Antidote, ryetalyn.

Rigelian Kassaba fever: Disease. required treatment with Stokaline injections.

Rop'ngnor: Disease that sometimes affets Klingon children, somewhat akin to terrestrial measles..

Rudellian brain fever: Type of illness

Rudellian plague: Disease

Rugalan fever: Deadly disease.

Rushton infection: Disease.

Sakuro's disease: an extremely rare disease that can cause intense fever, weakness, and death if not treated.

Schizophrenia: Psychotic mental disorder with such symptoms as delusions, retreat from reality, and conflicting emotions.

Symbalene blood burn: Virulent disease. Symbalene blood burn can kill an entire planetary population in a very short period of time.

Synthococcus novae: Dangerous bacillus-strain organism, a by-product of mondern tecnology. Although treratable the deadly bacillus was regarded as a significant health hazard.

Telurian plague: A terrible disease that was still uncurable i the 2360's

Thelusian flu: An exotic but harmless rhinovirus.

Transporter psychosis: Rare medical disorder caused by a breakdown of neurochemical molecules during transport. The condidtion affects the body's motor functions as well as autonomic systems and higher brain funcitons. Victims were found to suffer from paranoid delusions, multi-infarct dementia, tactile and visual hallucinations, and psychogenic hysteria. Pripheral symptions included sleeplessness, accelerated heart rate, myopia, muscular spasms, and dehydration. The prolem was eliminated around 2319 with the development of the multiplex pattern buffer.

Transporter shock: Rare phenomenon wherein a person experiences dizziness, headaches and disorientation after being transposted.

Vegan choriomeningitis: Rare and deadly disease. Symptomes include high fever, pain in the extremities, delirium, and death if not treated within 24 hours.

Xenopolycythemia: Disease in humanoids Characterized by an abnormal proliferation of red blood cells causing varied symptoms including weakness, fatigue, enlarged spleen, and pain in the extremities.. Dr. Leonard McCoy was diagosed with terminal xenopolycythemia in 2268. He was cured, thanks to advanced medical information from the spaceship Yonada. Prior to that time xenopolycythemia was considered to be invariably fatal.
