Personality:
Officer and Psychological Profile: Commander Tenna is an intelligent, sensitive female humanoid of unknown origin. She is deeply scarred by early life traumas but has successfully learned to suppress her feelings. She is outwardly friendly to her fellow officers and perhaps a little too flirtatious. This facade is most likely a manifestation of a deeply routed defense mechanism to compensate for her guilt feelings over her part in the murder of thousands of innocent people and the loneliness of being the only known representative of her race. Tenna is fiercely loyal to her adopted family, the Jansons, and especially to Sydnii Janson her best friend. Although she has sworn an oath of allegiance to Starfleet, it is generally believed that this loyalty stems from her gratitude for her rescue more so than a dedication to the organization's principles. She has empathic abilities but not telepathic. She has no telekinetic abilities at this time; however, tests have revealed a latent tendency.
Dislikes: Pirates, slavery, and Cardassians

Background Description
Tenna's Parents:
Tenna's earliest memory is one she will never forget. She is a small girl in her mother's arms surrounded by strangers. She is startled by a flash of bright light aimed at her father. Simultaneously, she is gripped tighter by her mother, she hears her mother cry out, and she sees her fathers terror stricken face as he disintegrates into nothingness. She sees her mother collapse in a pool of blood as she is carried away crying silently for her parents.
Tenna's Childhood:
Tenna was brought before Gorak, the Gahn of Goran. Gorak ruled a race of space pirates who inhabited the planet Goron V, the smallest of seven planets extending outward from the far reaches of Cardassian territory. "Um gala tenna" the guard repeated as he placed, the tiny child on the alter of sacrifice. Glancing around, Gorak raised his sword.... But before he could deliver the fatal blow, Gorak's wife Thoran swept up the infant and claimed her for her own. "She will make a fine addition to my slaves and a fine playmate for my three year old son Somac", she announced. She shall be known as Tenna of the Palace of Gorak.
Thoran brought Tenna to her son's nanny, a kindly Bajoran slave who had lived on Goran most of her adult life. The Bajoran women, Ta_Hamen, was assigned the responsible for providing Tenna the necessary schooling a slave girl should have on Goran. Officially, she taught Tenna about Goran history and customs and indoctrinated her with the proper behavior for a slave. In public, they practiced the Goran language but whenever possible, secretly Ta_Hamen taught Tenna the Bajoran language and customs and a deep seeded love for freedom. Listening to Ta_Hamen convinced Tenna to never ever give up the quest for freedom!
Tenna's childhood was not so bad. Although she was required to work hard, she was also allowed to play child's games with Somac. Somac was Thoran's eldest son and the next in-line to become Gahn or Goran. She listened intently to Somac's stories about his people, their glorious heritage of conquest and space piracy, and marveled in his tales of great bravery. She liked Somac and he liked her.
Somac, Tenna's Friend:
When Somac was sent daily to school, Tenna was required to labor in the fields or the mines during the day. But when he returned to the palace, he always sent for her so they might spend some time together, alone in his private garden. Tenna's curiosity was insatiable and her constant questions about his schooling resulted in Somac teaching her almost everything he had learned during the day. When he grew old enough to be trained in the battle skills necessary to be a great Goran warrior, she prevailed upon him to allow her to practice with him. They fired phasers and disrupters, fought with swords, knives, and other hand held weapons, and practiced the martial arts. He taught her how to kill an opponent with a sharp twist of the neck or with single sharp blow. He took her on flight training missions and Tenna became an accomplished pilot and navigator. They talked of plasma physics, basic warp core theory, and elementary engineering. And with each passing day, they grew closer.
Somac, Tenna's Lover:
To graduate, Somac was required to spend a week on a desolate planet and survive and he brought Tenna with him. They had survived well, happy to be in each others company caring little for the rest of it. Tomorrow they would return. That evening Somac looked deep into Tenna's eyes and he saw the answer to his question. She drew her to him and kissed her for the first time. Their passions ignited, they became lovers. Later that night, Somac presented Tenna with a small jewel-handled dagger. "To keep you safe for me", he explained.
After that night, Somac brought Tenna with him everywhere; even on raids of the ships unfortunate enough to wander close to Goran space. At first she was sequestered in his quarters during the raids to protect her from the violence. But eventually Somac came upon the idea to use Tenna to lure ships into dropping their shields in answer to her distress call. Once the unsuspecting ship dropped its shields, Somac and his men would board it, plunder the cargo, recruit slaves, and murder all remaining potential witnesses. Tenna was allowed to see only the new slaves and the stolen cargo. She was not aware of the ultimate distruction of the victimized ship and the death of its crew. Although she sympathized with the new slaves, her love for Somac blinded her into believing his lies.
Sixteen years after the death of Tenna's parents, Somac's father was killed and Somac became the new Gahn of Goran. With his new title came a new wife, Pashan his betrothed. Pashan, being no fool, immediately banished Tenna from the palace and assigned her to perform the hardest manual labor tasks, she could find. Tenna was required to toil 12 hours a day and received little food or water. Only Ta_Hamen was allowed to see the hapless girl and Pashan made it clear that Somac was not to visit Tenna under any circumstances. Both Tenna and Somac were miserable in their separation.
Somac, Tenna's Enemy:
Finally, Somac conceived of a way to be with Tenna once again. He would choose another slave girl to act as a decoy for his raids but at the last minute switch her with Tenna. The plan worked well and Somac found himself alone again with his beloved. For several weeks, it was as before. But one day, while Somac was busy pillaging a Telarian merchant vessel, Pashan boarded Somac's ship. Thinking to spring a surprise upon her husband, she went to his quarters only to find Tenna, the annoying slave girl already there. Furious, Pashan grabbed Tenna's long red hair and dragged her to the bridge. On the viewscreen, they witnessed the ruthless slaughter of innocent people. Tenna saw Somac slit the throats of three children and her heart tuned to stone; her love for him to hatred.
Realizing Somac's deception, Pashan laughed loudly and when Somac returned to the bridge and saw his wife standing next to Tenna, his joyful triumph of the conquest quickly changed. "What was she doing in your quarters?" Pashan demanded angrily. Somac had read the betrayal and hatred in Tenna's eyes and knew nothing would be the same. Striding belligerently up to her, Somac struck Tenna across the face. "How dare you go to my quarters? You know you are here for my men to enjoy! Be gone!" and he had her led away.
During the final year before her rescue, Tenna's days were occupied with manual labor but her nights were spent pleasing Somac's men. She learned quickly by experience that resistance only resulted in bruises and broken bones and quickly mastered the necessary techniques to survive. She hated these men who had been her friends but now treated her as a slave. Although she had considered ending her own life with Somac's gift, she remembered Ta_Hamen's teachings and never gave up hope for her freedom.
The Rescue and Trial:
"May it please the court, we are accusing Tenna a female of unknown race and age of the heinous crime of murdering thousands of innocent people. The defendant is approximately 5'5" tall and weighs approximately 132 pounds. Her eyes are green and are reminiscent of a cat's. She has long reddish brown hair with golden highlights which compliment her golden tan skin color very well creating an exotic beauty. She appears to be athletic with good muscle tone and physical strength."
During Tenna's murder trial, she had refused to provide information for her own defense. The court was recessed and a psychological examination was conducted. Success was achieved only after the young women was placed into a hypnotic trance. Below is an excerpt from her doctor's testimony.
"The Federation soldiers arrived that day. Both sides had fought bravely, but the Goran's were outnumbered and only Somac and a handful of his crew remained trapped in his palace. When Federation reinforcements arrived, Somac was quickly defeated. He and his men were marched outside in time to catch sight of the recently liberated slaves limping broken and beaten from their quarters."
"Among them he spied his beloved Tenna helping Ta_Hamen, the Bajoran slave women. Their eyes locked and she saw his unspoken plea. Partly from anger and hatred from what he had done to her, but the rest from her knowledge of his certain fate at the Cardassian labor camp she knew he would be spending the duration of his life, she slipped the small dagger he had given her from her boot and ran towards him. "Freedom" she cried as she plunged her dagger into her former lover's heart, his grateful eyes thanking her in his silent death." Because of these circumstances, it is my recommendation that the defendant be set free."
Tenna's new life:
Following her acquittal, Tenna was adopted by the two Starfleet scientists involved in her rescue. Stephen and Josephine Janson are Professors at Starfleet Academy. In addition their adopted daughter Tenna, the Janson's have seven natural children, six sons and one daughter, Sydnii -- all are Starfleet Officers. In preparation for Tenna's defense, Stephen and Josephine conducted extensive research into the circumstances leading to Tenna's capture by the Goran's. They examined the wreckage of the Tenna's ship but because the technology was far too advanced, they learned virtually nothing with respect to it's origin or the race of people who had built it. They were able to translate three word's in Tenna's native language, "um gala Tenna" means "my little girl"!
Five years later, Tenna graduated 27th in a class of 257 from Starfleet Academy with a degree in Psychiatry. She spent a year doing an internship at Starfleet Academy Memorial Hospital where she performed research on and treated "Space Disease victims". She was assigned to the USS-Gryphon on Stardate 49608.14 where she served as the ship's Counselor. With the rank of Commander, she was transferred to the USS Harbinger commanded by Admiral Dewolff, where she also served as the ship's counselor.
Prior to leaving for Empok Nor, an series of unusual events took place on the Harbinger. First, the ship was transported into some kind of an alternate universe. Second, a double of Commander McKenzie was allowed to board the ship. Third, Tenna and the Alternate Captain McKenzie began to develop feelings for each other partly because he claimed that 'his' Tenna had been killed. And Finally, an alternate Captain Tenna showed up on the ship, tried to kill both her and the Alternate McKenzie, and then just disappeared. Tenna was assigned to Empok Nor specifically because of her vast knowledge of deep space psychological diseases. Records from Starfleet regarding Tenna's transfer to Empok Nor have been held up or lost somewhere. The station Commander must rely on Tenna's word which at this point, he has no reason to question.
