| At the time that the Cardassians had left Bajor, Neva actually had no idea of her true identity. She had been the victim of an assault by a Cardassian Gul in the Musilla Province. The Gul had left her for dead afterward, abandoning her in a broken down shack near the Holana River. She somehow survived there for three days, struggling to make her way back to the nearest city. In the middle of the third day, she was found by a Bajoran man that had been out hunting a hara cat that had been ravaging his farm animals. The hunter helped Neva back to his wife and they nursed her back to health but none of the three of them knew Neva's name so she lived for the next two years under another name. They had fallen in love immediately but were pulled apart again a year later by the demands of both of their lives. Tygor being called away from Bajor and Neva called to serve the Prophets as a vedek in Jolanda Falls, the capital city of Bajor. Fifteen months after Tygor left, Neva gave birth to Ian but never told Tygor about the birth. She has, however, kept close contact with her brother ever since being reunited with him two years after Ian's birth.
