| Background: | It was her sophomore year at the Academy when she met a young ensign, Jerred McKnight while attending a martial arts class. He was superb in both body movements and actions. She conveyed an interest to join his classes and soon a friendship of sorts was born. Ensign McKnight taught her many new defenses as well as different attacks. She went on a holiday break, back home to visit her father. It was then that she was attacked. Using the training that came so naturally as McKnight had taught her. She killed two of her attackers and crippled the third for life. She reported the incident to her father who called the authorities. They in turn investigated and encouraged her father to get her to some place safe as the thugs who had attacked her, had been quite popular. She on the other hand only wanted to return to starfleet. Something her father refused to let her do. She tried to contact Jerred to let him know what happened, but even that would be denied her as she was placed in a hospital under the care of Dr. Daniel Murdock. Murdock swiftly began to brainwash Katelyn into forgetting she ever had known Jerred McKnight. One of the first things that he did was to cause her to misscarry the child, she and Jerred were to have together. He went so far as to place a physical block over thier first meeting and subsequent encounters. After he was sure that his blocks were in place he moved her into a room where she could continue her starfleet academy studies. He hadn't counted on her tying into her messages from her dorm. It was there that she again saw Jerred's face and knew that he was an important part of her. But she was a loss to know what. Murdock had somehow planted an answering message to all of Katelyn's friends that she was busy seeking the big chair and would not be able to further communicate with those not interested in helping her achieve her goals. Many of her friends believed this lie, including Jerred McKnight. When she was released from the hospital six months later, she returned to Starfleet Academy to once again complete her studies. By day everything ran normally, once in a great while she would see the man named Jerred, but made no effort to talk to him. At night however, she only slept four hours before screaming for him at the top of her lungs. A kind klingon girl would always come to soothe her. Takarri Milon was different from most Klingons that she knew. Milon, taken from her homeworld at age 8 was raised here on Earth. Her foster parents were kind and nuturing and she kept in close contact with her real parents. Their friendship grew and they became as close as sisters could who were not born of the same parents. It was Milon that drew out the whole story of Katelyn's captivity from her. For the next two years, Milon took Katelyn every week to Starfleet Medical to have the scars worked on that ran from her neck to her heels. She also taught Katelyn the Klingon ways with weapons. A practice that she still works to perfect today. Milon got nog practical experience with the lessons of klingon weapons herself but her father had made sure that holoprograms got to her to teach her some of her klingon heritage. It was these programs that Milon used to teach Katelyn. Just before gratuation, Milon got word that her parents, were being reassigned to a far off outpost. Her father being a klingon ambassador, for security's sake could not give the name of the ship they were traveling on nor the outpost they would be assigned to. Word came a little while later that her parent's ship never made it to the outpost. Milon was crushed and it was Katelyn's turn to take care of her. By the time first assignments rolled around Milon was nearly back to her old self and she and Katelyn waited anxiously their first ship assignments. Milon had followed her heart and became a doctor. Katelyn had specialized in ships' operations. Their disappointment was great as Ensign Takarri Milon was assigned to the USS Darwin, and Ensign Katelyn McCloud was assigned to the USS Challenger. Surprises were in store for Katelyn even here it seemed as she now knew that Ensign Jerred McKnight was someone from her past. Someone she could even possibly trust, and upon her arrival, she was shocked to find him standing on the bridge, in the security position. Only, possibly she could have been wrong for it seemed as if he hated her. Not knowing of the life they had shared together. Katelyn put together a holo program of the night of the attack. She asked Jerred to look at it, to tell her if there was something that she could have done differently. It was then that he began to realize that what he had believed to be true for the last two years, may indeed not be the truth at all. Katelyn, under extreme emotional stress, started to pace the hallway in front of him trying desparatly to tell him what was in her heart, but coming up against the stone wall of his head, collapsed in front of him. This is what brought them to finding out about the block that Murdock had placed on her memories. Katelyn left in a coma from a betazoid mind meld, lay in sickbay dying and Jerred, knowing only that no one seemed to be helping her poured his own life enrgies into her, weakening himself in the bargain. Through this link he was able to see everything that was done to her while she was away from him. She came to as Jerred collapsed to the floor. With the help of Ensign Holt, they got Jerred stablaized and she knew that the friendship that she longed for from him was something more than just simple friendship. Now emotionally dependant on each other, they can function sepeartly to do their jobs but they will always have a telepathic link. This link also extends to the ability to share dreams. Her friend, Takarri contacted her that she would be getting married, while deciding which dress to send her friend, Jerred entered her quarters and it was then that he realized that Katelyn's best friend was his foster sister. He barely remembered her being taken from the house as he was walking into it. When Katelyn revealed what had happened to Takarri's parents he was stunned into action. He let her use her newfound mental talents to see into his past. The journey was heart wrenching. He thought it also time that she knew of their life together and so also shared his memories of that. In hopes that if they couldn't get around the fortress in her mind, perhaps they could tunnel underneath it. Every so often she feels something shift aside and gets a little more of her own memories back. Jerred remains unconvinced that these are hers or the ones that he shared with her. She will have to work to convince him that what she is feeling for him is real and that her memories are coming back, finally. Two years ago, in the way of the Klingons, a very private ceremony was performed as Katelyn and Jerred McKnight were married. Eight months ago, a daughter was born of the union. Tlq Qul* McKnight is a strawberry blond beauty with no signs of her trill heritage. Her startling grey eyes seem to pierce you with their look and she is very very highly protected.
