Family: Jerred is very proud of his family heritage. He was born a warrior from a long and illustrious line of warriors. His past kinsmen had fought in all the great wars of earth, some had died, some had lived through the conflicts, but almost all had performed with valor and distinction. Chief among these was the World War II veteran Randel R. McKnight, who survived the bombing of the US California, and received a metal of honor, also there was Camber McKnight, who was a Grand Master of the Knights Templar during the Crusades of earth (in the middle ages, the records are not fully clear due to the damage done in World War III). Jerred is considered a scholar of military history and tactics, both human and Klingon. Jerred was originally from earth, though his mother and father both were in Starfleet, and both died on the Melbourne at Wolf 359. This, and the self-loathing he feels for not being there are the primary fuels for his hatred of the Borg. Jerred feels he should have died fighting beside his mother and father, even though it is totally illogical.

Education: Very highly educated.
Birthplace: Earth.
Background: His parents participated in "project: Perspective," this project was one of cultural exchange between earth and the Klingon Empire. In retrospect, the project was not a success, but at the time the Federation was struggling to solidify the Klingon/Federation alliance. Federation documentation indicates that certain five human families volunteered to exchange children with five Klingon. The children were to be raised by their foster parents and taught the ways of the their new societies.

The program was a failure and an embarrassment. Of the humans only Jerred completed the program as foreseen, and he had great difficulty, raised on Qo'noS since the age of eight, and never accepted fully in Klingon society, he at least eventually won their respect. Of the Klingons, one had ended up in prison, one went insane, one died on the Melbourne, one disappeared at age fourteen, however, one did make it as planned. His foster Parents were of the House of Milon. Jerred did well and grew much stronger than a normal human, due to the increased gravity. At age 10 he was captured by a psychotic Klingon. The Klingon had been abducting Romulan children and conducting "medical" experiments upon them, he had underestimated the human "child". His martial ability was already substantial and at this tender age, he killed for the first time. He had slain this monster in hand to hand combat. His Foster Father soon grew to love him as the son he never had, he had sent his own daughter, Takarri Milon, to live in the Federation. His Foster Father, Kareek Milon, tried to convince him to remain in the Empire, his family was very influential, and the respect he had won through the years had earned him a place within the Klingon Defense Force, or Klingon Intelligence operations. Needless to say the program was discontinued, though Jerred suspects that Section 31 may still be watching him and evaluating the program secretly. He had left Qo'noS and was in Starfleet academy when the battle of Wolf 359 occurred.

Even before he went to live in Klingon society, his warrior heritage came through, he was a sudent of Kung Fu at the age of four and showed incredible athletic ability and natural grace. The heavy gravity of Qo'noS put slabs of muscle on him, yet he remained supple for to become one with Klingon society he was trained in the ways of a warrior. He learned Klingon martial arts styles and has integrated them into his Kung Fu background. With directed energy weapons he showed speed and accuracy that most battle hardened veterans human or Klingon could never hope to achieve. He also had an unexpected aptitude with large weapons, either land based or from a ship platform. As his training progressed, he showed himself to be an able and courageous leader. Furthermore, on an academic level, he did exceptionally well, earning and undergraduate degree in physics and xenopsychology. He has also shown great aptitude at both small and large directed energy weapons design.

Dr. Daniel Murdock (Betazoid)- Murdock is a rogue agent for Section 31. He was the originator of "Project Perspective" and even had his own son participate. His son was the human that disappeared, whereabouts unknown. Murdock has fixated upon Jerred and blames him for his son's failure, he hates Jerred because Jerred succeeded in "Project Perspective" It was learned by Jerred, that Murdock murdered his human parents two hours before the battle of Wolf 359, and incident which has been covered up by Section 31. Murdock also played a role in the Abduction of Jerred's Foster Father, Ambassador Milon and his Foster Mother. Their whereabouts and whether they live or are dead is unknown. Murdock also abducted Katelyn McCloud during Jerred's senior year. Dr. Murdock abducted her and mentally and physically tortured her. Jerred received a taped message from breaking off their engagement. The tape told McKnight that, "the command chair was her future, not a husband, that he would only bog her down." He still is not certain whether the tape was an outright fraud, or just a product of the brainwashing Murdock had done to Katelyn. He almost washed out of the Academy, plummeting from the top 1% to barely graduating, if it wasn't for the war he would have quit then.

Katelyn McCloud was and continues to be the single most important person in Jerred's world. He stayed in love with her, even when he thought she had shunned him. When she was posted to the Challenger, it was the best and worst day of his Starfleet career. For a time relations between them was extremely strained. Jerred was afraid of being hurt again, and Katelyn still had feelings for him but didn't understand them or why she had them. Understanding came the day Jerred had to call upon teachings nearly two thousand years old. McCloud lie upon a biobed, her life quickly draining away, pandemonium surrounding them, a doctor gone insane from forces far beyond Jerred's understanding. But he did remember the ancient text and their teachings of life transference. He called upon all the mental discipline that his twenty-one years of martial arts had given him, centering his chi perfectly he begin sending his life force into her. As he did he was able to see the memories of what Dr. Murdock had done to her, he understood, she was not responsible, he forgave her. That day he nearly died, so much life force did she need, but little had he realized exactly what he had done. The ancient texts had hinted at it. Over a period of weeks a psychic link developed between the two. Culminating in a dream scape battle that sent Dr. Murdock's presence from her mind, though the blocks were still up. McKnight approached Sinjin Morgan to teach him the ways of the Betazoid warrior, when it became apparent that Murdock was Betazoid. Morgan patiently helped Jerred develop his fledgling psychic abilities, now Jerred is fully trained as a Betazoid warrior. Ready to battle Murdock mind to mind if necessary.

When it became obvious to McKnight that he had to chose between the honor of the house of Milon or his Starfleet career he never hesitated, having already asked for a leave of absence and having it denied, he called in the favors of the house of Milon. A Bird of prey was dispatched to the Challenger's location. He Katelyn McCloud and Melfred Benson all three resigned their commissions and were secretly transported aboard the Bird of Prey. Now he is a member of the Klingon Defense Force, and an Ambassador to Empok Nor.

Starfleet Service Record: Jerred Served aboard the USS Challenger, quickly rising to the rank of lieutenant. He served as the Deputy Chief of Security, then he was the temporary tactical officer, after the murder of Sinjin Morgan, who was Jerred's mentor and friend. During his service aboard the Challenger, McKnight asked for and was granted permission to develop and undergo a holographic Starfleet Marine Corps regime. He also trained several of his Security personnel.

Furthermore, he voluntarily trained the entire crew with the help of the holodeck in advanced hand to hand combat techniques. Morgan was killed by Dr. Daniel Murdock, who figures very heavily into Jerred's history.

Skills: Jerred is highly skilled in hand to hand combat (at one time he was concidered the very best in Starfleet), He is trained as a Betazoid Telepath Warrior (though here he is merely average), Instructor level with hand weapons (directed energy), Master level of training and skill with Bat'leth and most all Klingon weapons, Military Historian, Expert in Security Systems (especially Federation), TAC operations, Strategy and Tactics, Computer Operations and Security (and of course circumvention), Covert Operations, Demolitions, Energy weapons (large) both Starfleet and Klingon, full Starfleet Marine Training.
