This play by email simulation is based at the Cardassian station Empok Nor, introduced in Paramount's Deep Space Nine episode "Empok Nor" as the sister station to Terok Nor. In that episode, some of the crew from DS9 traveled to the station and scavenged some parts for use on their own station. In this simulation, Empok Nor is whole and thriving. It was reclaimed by Cardassians and Maquis seeking to live their lives freely. Suffering unimaginable hardships, the founding members restored power, repaired broken conduits and created a haven for all who love freedom. It is now self-governed and known as the "Neutrality of Empok Nor." All who abide by station rules are welcome.

But it is a hard life and there are few luxuries on Empok Nor as the inhabitants eke out their meager livings. The people living on Empok Nor are survivors. They have repelled attacks of Jem Hadar soldiers or Cardassian rebels, they have defeated the evil genius bent on controlling the lives of all living creatures in the universe, they have rescued kidnap victims taken to the mirror universe and they have countered take-over attempts by Romulans, Cardassian Rebels, and even Starfleet itself. Yes, the people of Empok Nor have endured much. But their struggle is far from over.

Empok Nor is a haven that serves as a sanctuary for every low life scum of the universe looking for a way to make a quick score and come away with a fortune. When you come to Empok Nor, you need to keep one hand on your wallet and the other not far from your energy weapon. Security is efficient and justice is swift and those caught pay the price for their transgressions.
