| Background |
It was during one of these runs that their freighter was attacked by a Jem Hadar warship. Her father had put her in a lifepod. They had just taken off from Outpost 4 and the Outpost itself was trying to defend the merchant ship. As her lifepod jettisoned she looked out the viewport to see the freighter utterly destroyed. To this day she still does not know if anyone else got off of the ship before it exploded. She had nightmares for years about the ship exploding She was taken in by an elderly couple that lived aboard the outpost and ran one of the bars there. They taught her their trade and when asked if she wanted to be sent home, she had such a severe reaction that they never broached the subject again. She refused to get near the docking rings of the outpost because she refused to be anywhere near another ship. The Outpost was destroyed by a mysterious race. Karrynna was taken by this race for scientific purposes. They intended to study this humanoid's mental abilities in an attempt to gain an advantage over their adversaries. Lieutenant Commander Steven Quinn was also taken by this mysterious race. It was this race's thought that the female they had picked up might need a mate. It was then surprising when Lt. Cmdr. Quinn volunteered to remain with this race in return for the woman's freedom. During an interrogation that followed, it was deemed that she was not directly responsible for the destruction of the Outpost. Nor was she responsible for the demise of Mr. Quinn. This was dertermined by way of a Vulcan mind-meld with Captain Stoval. She begged to be sent off of the ship immediately because she was sure that she would be a jinx. It was not until the return of the USS Avatar into the present universe that it too was lost and though she knows deep down inside that she was again not directly responsible for its destruction, this idea has seemed to affect her whether anyone else realizes it or not. | |||||||||||||||
