Personality:

Jorum likes people and cultures. He got that from his father. He is quick to make friends, and in general, very hard to anger. He is very philosophically inclined and learned early on in life to incorporate many different philosophies to form his core belief system of right and wrong. He has a strong respect for the sanctity of other beings minds. However, he would not hesitate to use his telepathic abilities in combat. Though this philosophy seemingly contradicts one another, he is at peace with his decision on the matter.

Hobbies: Fencing, philosophy, languages (Latin, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Klingoneze, Vulcan) telepathy, physics, hand to hand combat. And of course all the standard skills acquired in Starfleet Academy.
Background

Jorum is well mannered, his education followed that of the classics, he is well schooled in philosophy (both Eastern and Western), science, math, languages, and art. He has an incredible intuitive grasp of science, especially physics. Jorum has been fencing since he was five years old; he considers it a form of art. His first lessons were given to him by his father. By the time he was nine it was clear his ability far surpassed his father's. Therefore, his parents secured the training of a Venician master, Estebon Remeriz. He studied under the master Remeriz until into puberty. At puberty it was made clear why he was so able to anticipate the moves of his opponents, by thirteen he had already qualified for the next Olympic games, the youngest fencer ever in the games, he was one of the incredibly rare humans that have telepathic abilities. Jorum had to forgo entering the Olympics at age fourteen. Instead he went to Betazed for telepathic training. He needed help controlling the voices in his head. After three years of study there, he managed to learn control. He lacks the polish of a fully trained adult Betazoid; however, he has more telepathic power than most. He is indeed a very odd human, indeed. By his eighteenth year he had returned to Earth. There he entered the Olympics, his contests had to be monitored by a Betazoid, one Rotharal (his old mentor on Betazed), to insure that he did not use any of his telepathic abilities. Thus hampered, he managed to capture the silver. After the Olympics, he was knighted into the order of the Knights Templar, by the Queen of England, Queen Margaret. Upon knighthood, his father gave him the ancient sword of their family. This blade is over 1000 years old and has been passed from generation to generation it has a holy relic inset in the cross guard. Starfleet has allowed Jorum to take this weapon among his personal affects, and to wear it to formal functions. He has treated the blade with a polysteel alloy in the event he should actually have to use it in combat against 24th century weapons. The added tensile strength serves the bejeweled claymore well.

Family History: His family has a history that can be traced all the way to the 5th century A.D. His heritage, though now dated, has always been that of nobility. His father, Nathan MacRorie, is in the diplomatic corps, and was knighted for his outstanding peace settlement in the Howthian system some fifty years ago. Nathan continues to be one of the Federation's leading diplomats. He played a discreet yet critical role in the current Romulan alliance with the federation, and is currently involved with the Dominion negotiations.

His mother, Delann MacRorie, is a Starfleet Engineer. She has been teaching at the Academy for the last ten years, after being in deep space for twenty-five years preceding her current assignment. She was one of the only survivors of Wolf 359. Initially she was missed in the wreckage, but she was found some three days later in a battered escape pod badly injured. It took her several years to be fit for duty due to psychiatric difficulties. She now has manic depressive tendencies and thoroughly despises the Borg. She even hates the officer's in Starfleet that have been assimilated, to be later rescued and brought back into active service. That was the primary reason she left active duty. She had a near homicidal hatred of Captain Picard of the USS Enterprise; she considers him directly responsible for Wolf 359. Though she insisted on active duty as soon as she was physically over her injuries, Starfleet soon deemed her unfit for deep space duty and reassigned her where she could be of most use. In all likelihood in times of peace she would have been quietly retired, rather than allowed access to young recruits.

His sister, Evaine, is his pride and joy. She, too entered Starfleet the same year Jorum did. Their entire lives they had leaned upon each other for support. Especially when their mother went missing and was presumed dead. Throughout the academy, they had a friendly competition academically. However, this competition was secondary, first and foremost, they aided each other in doing well together. Their competition wasn't over who excelled and who did not, but who attained the highest degree of excellence. Evaine insisted on taking the Kobayashi Maru eight times. Sure she could beat it. The ninth time she demanded that Jorum be part of her crew, she was flatly denied, then she figured out what the test was all about. She had been enraged at Jorum when he would not disclose to her how he did or the secrets to passing it.

Physical Description:

Jorum is tall and lithely built. He has a quickness to his movements, but moves with a grace that few attain. He seemingly glides rather than walks through a room. He has stunning aristocratic features. His enticing eyes seem to see into people's souls.
